Bookmakers KO Special K’s chances of making boxing history

UK bookmakers’ are giving Sheffield boxer Kell ‘Special K’ Brook a slender chance of beating Kazakh powerhouse Gennady GGG Golovkin, as the fighters meet this Saturday night at London’s O2 Arena.

Coming into today’s weigh-in, Brook the IBF Welterweight champion has been priced by the majority of UK bookmakers at 5/1 versus firm favourite Golovkin’s 1/6 odds.

Fighting for multiple Middleweight titles, Brook will attempt to make British boxing history, by stepping up two weight divisions to take on Golovkin the man labelled the ‘most feared fighter in the world’.

Golovkin’s fearsome kudos is earnt through a 91% knock-out ratio (32 ko’s in 35 fights). Nearly all boxing pundits and bookmakers believe that the challenge facing Brook is simply too big of an ask for the Sheffield fighter.

Betfair’s boxing correspondent Frank Monkhouse stated that should Brook win, the fighter will have pulled off boxing’s greatest ever upset’.

Despite the odds stacked against Brook, the fight has generated substantial public interest. Matchroom CEO Eddie Hearn the main promoter of Saturday’s fight stated that Sky Box Office pay-per-view buys were currently tracking in line with Carl Froch Vs George Groves II, the UKs most lucrative fight ever.
