Perform secures J-League streaming rights via DAZN platform

Sports media and digital content publisher Perform Group has signed an exclusive 10-year digital streaming contract with the J-League, Japan’s highest professional football body. Perform’s live content streaming deal is reported to be worth ¥210 billion (£1.5 billion)

The content partnership will see J-League J1, J2 J3 division matches broadcast live via Perform owned streaming platform DAZN (www.DAZN.com).

The J-League is one of Asia’s most popular and competitive leagues, its perform partnership will see its content published in HD-format throughout multiple platforms including PC, mobile, tablet and video consoles.

Perform further detailed that DAZN management would work with J-League stakeholders in order to produce the best user engaging content with the aim of boosting its league’s appeal internationally.

Announcing its live streaming partnership J.League Chairman Mitsuru Murai commented

“Japanese sports industry could produce content worthy of foreign investment. “As the Internet and mobile marketplaces continue to evolve, we will be one of the first to join together with a business deeply involved in that industry. We intend to use this deal as an opportunity to invest in an attractive league for as many fans as possible and contribute to society as leaders in the Japanese sports industry,”

Perform Japan CEO James Rushton backed Murai’s positive remarks, stating that he was pleased to have secured a further major contract for his group.

“We are incredibly happy” to be able to offer a long-term service to the J.League, its players, and its fans.Through this partnership, we hope that DAZN will share the magic of the J.League with viewers at any place and any time,”
