During a quick pre-conference chat, Tom Light (VP of Business Development) expressed his excitement over some of the discussions facilitated by Betting on Sports, including the growth of Esports and the legislative impact of Brexit. Light will also feature on the ‘In-Play Time’ panel this afternoon.

SBC: What are your main aims for collaborating with Betting on Sports?

TL: As one of the key global industry events, we see this collaboration as integral to our strategy of cementing our position as a world-leading provider of sports betting software packages.

In a year that’s already seen SBTech add to our regulatory portfolio with new Maltese and Romanian licenses, successfully complete the compliance process to provide our best-in-class Sportsbook in the Italian regulated market, and secure numerous new partnership agreements with up-and-coming operators, we feel that it’s the ideal moment to sponsor the Betting on Sports conference and further our reputation as the leading supplier of fully and semi-managed betting solutions.

SBC: What do you find appealing about Betting on Sports?

TL: The growth of SBC News events over the last few years has been hugely impressive, in terms of the number and calibre of participants, the range of technologies on display, and the breadth of topics under discussion.

As a leader in a number of key fields, including In-Play betting, we’re keen to maintain our presence at this prestigious event, and to contribute to the many debates affecting this most dynamic of industries.

The opportunity to network and exchange ideas with our peers and partners is always welcome, and we also love the chance to meet with the mould-breaking start-ups which always bring fresh ideas and approaches to the table. As world-renowned innovators, we’re always looking to match our latest technologies to the most disruptive new players.

SBC: What are you looking forward to being debated at Betting on Sports?

TL: This year’s event is looking like being one of the most compelling ever in terms of the topics under debate. We’re very proud to be taking part in the discussion on “In-Play time – User engagement in live betting environments” and to offer our insights on the creation of dynamic products for new users, the optimisation of sports betting markets in live environments, and on building effective pre-market campaigns to increased user retention.

As leaders in meeting the requirements of different jurisdictions, creating the right regulatory environment for each operation, and answering the market needs and player preferences of each partner business in order to deliver successful and profitable offerings, we’re very much looking forward to the conversations about the legislative impact of Brexit, the workshop on AML and data protection, and the panel featuring some of Europe’s key regulators on fresh challenges facing the industry.

Of course, the panel on new trends is unmissable, as is the discussion on new faces in the industry, many of which we’re proud to have been able to assist. We’re also looking forward to the discussions on virtuals and Esports, especially on how big data is going to enable massive growth in live betting on this key emerging sector.

SBC: Apart from football, what is the most interesting sport to bet on?

TL: Tennis is one of the most exhilarating sports to bet on. It’s recently overtaken basketball in terms of betting volume right across SBTech’s partner operators, and that’s clearly due to the opportunity to bet in-play. Our Fast Markets cover next point, subsequent point and game-by-game markets and frankly, in a sport as fast moving as tennis, that’s got to be the best way to bet.

With year-round events to bet on, tennis is one of the few sports that fires the imagination throughout the calendar – fans of tennis are some of the most devoted and loyal around, and we’re proud to offer them betting markets that match their passion.

On a related note, our live markets for table tennis are proving immensely popular with huge segments of punters – the sport is even faster-moving than tennis, and we expect to see some interesting developments in this particular area.

SBC: What does the rest of 2016 have in store for you?

TL: I don’t want to give too much away, but we’ve been working hard on some fascinating new uses for Big Data, aimed at offering whole new levels of personalisation to the individual bettor, with entirely new features and customisable offers to augment and enhance each player’s journey. We’re also lining up some exciting new integrations with top-level third-party providers, whilst we will be closing new deals with some very special new operators and unveiling new markets in some fast-growing fields.
