Ed Nicholson, Head of UK Marketing Operations at Unibet, is the first industry expert to take on bettingexpert and Timeform in the revamped jump season Tipster Challenge for 2016/17, starting today at Ludlow.
Nicholson has been professionally involved in racing and betting for nearly 25 years. He appeared as the horse racing form expert guest presenter on the first Attheraces live show on May 1, 2002, along with Mike Cattermole, Angus McNae, John McCririck and Emma Spencer.
From today until the end of March 2017, we will be focusing on jump race meets. The leaderboard will be sorted according to both total points won and number of races won. Each Guest will be shown individually, with totals from Stephen Harris of bettingexpert and Timeform shown as a weekly average.

bettingexpert: Fool to Cry
Fancied to make a winning debut against rivals who have achieved little when placed in small fields and weak summer juvenile hurdles.
Timeform: Jim Dandy
Was held back by his own inexperience on hurdles debut at Plumpton last month, though clearly better was expected given his starting price, and he is taken to put that experience to good use now sporting cheekpieces.
Unibet: Jim Dandy

bettingexpert: Linguine
Will be able to dictate on his own, and can fend off Templehills up the straight.
Timeform: Templehills
Rather had the run of things up front when winning at Uttoxeter last month, but he pulled well clear with a similarly-unexposed sort and, with further improvement forthcoming, could offer some value.
Unibet: Templehills

bettingexpert: Azure Fly
Has a chance to dominate from the tape here with conditions ideal and his trainer flying.
Timeform: Azure Fly
Won this last year off an 8lb higher mark and could be worth chancing for his in-form yard.

bettingexpert: Miss Mobot
Has improved on summer ground of late and can complete a quick fire hat trick at Ludlow.
Timeform: Nordic Nymph
Her absence since February 2015 has to raise a doubt, but she is without question the best handicapped mare of the quartet, so it’s well worth chancing her well-being with Richard Johnson a positive booking.

4:10
Has a good record, and a bit more potential than some of those who have been on the go all summer.
Timeform: Idliketheoption
Surpassed his hurdles form at the first attempt over fences when finding only Master Dee too strong at Newton Abbot in August, and with further progress on the cards, is selected to reverse that form.

bettingexpert: Frozen Over
Could be a bit of value if first-time cheekpieces bring out some improvement on firm ground that should help.
Timeform: Tempuran
Last week’s all-the-way Bangor winner has fewer questions to answer than the majority of these and is taken to defy a penalty under Jake Hodson.
Unibet: Frozen Over

bettingexpert: Raveloe
Raveloe has the best form in the book, and should be able to put that experience to good use at Ludlow.
Timeform: Raveloe
Has shown enough to think a small race of this nature is within her compass, placed twice up to 2m, and she gets the nod on the back of a short break.
Unibet: Raveloe
