Publishing its full year 2016 results (12-month period ending 30 June), independent bookmaker Sky Betting & Gaming (SB&G) has delivered strong growth across all its 2016 metrics, as the operator prepares for its future international expansion.

Closing its FY 2016, SB&G detailed that Group Revenues had hit £373 million, up 51% on corresponding FY 2015’s £247 million.

The operator’s significant revenue growth saw sports betting revenues up 64% to £214 million (FY 2015: £130 million). SB&G group revenues would be further supported by a 36% gain in its igaming division which hit £159 million.

Detailing 2016 performance drivers, SB&G governance noted that the firm had recorded a significant increase in its customer base to 1.95 million. SB&G was able to support its customer growth with a better ‘average revenue per customer’ metric of £192 for FY 2016.

Following strong UK growth, SB&G governance now sets its sights on international expansion. The company announced its entry into the Italian market launching its ‘Super 6’ product this August.

In September the Leeds-based bookmaker confirmed that Jochen Weiner had been appointed as Managing Director of its new Sky Bet Deutschland division, which will target market launch in 2017

Richard Flint, CEO of Sky Betting & Gaming, commented on company performance:

“2015/16 has been another excellent year for the business and we are pleased to have delivered this strong performance despite some unprecedented pay-outs including an extremely generous Cheltenham Festival offer and a pay-out of around £5m on Leicester City winning the Premier League.

“We have continued to invest in both our technology and mobile platforms from our base in Yorkshire and our Super 6 product has successfully launched in Italy since the period end. Our strong momentum has continued into the current financial year and we are excited about the opportunities ahead both in the UK and internationally.”
