Ladbrokes suspends betting on Ed Sheeran for Glastonbury 2017

Ed SheeranJust two weeks after Radiohead became the first headline act confirmed for Glastonbury 2017, Ladbrokes has confirmed that they have stopped taking bets on Ed Sheeran also topping the bill at next year’s festival.

The 25-year-old English singer-songwriter, famous for hits such as ‘Thinking out loud’ and ‘The A Team’, attracted a flurry of bets which saw his odds drop from 7/1 to as short as 1/3.

Jessica Bridge, PR Manager at Ladbrokes, said: “It looks like Ed’s cameo in the latest Bridget Jones film was the clue all along.

“Punters have piled into his odds at a rate of knots, and we’re left with no option but to close the betting for the time being. Ed was initially chalked up as a 7/1 outsider, which might prove to be rather generous in hindsight, but it wouldn’t be the first time that the Eavis family has thrown a curve ball into the headliners that divide festival-goers.”

Sheeran announced his departure from the music limelight via Instagram in December of last year. However, if this flurry of betting activity turns out to be well founded, he might be returning from his self-imposed hiatus in time to headline the world’s biggest music festival.

Radiohead will be headlining on the Pyramid Stage for the third time on Friday 23rd June, following previous headline appearances in both 1997 and 2003. Other acts rumoured to be appearing at Glastonbury 2017 include Foo Fighters, Kasabian, Daft Punk and Lady Gaga.
