Playtech BGT Sports finalises executive team

Updating the market, FTSE-listed Playtech Plc has confirmed that its new subsidiary sports betting division Playtech BGT Sports (PBS) has finalised the restructure of its senior management team following the division’s acquisition of leading betting technology firm  BGT last year

As previously announced, heading up the team as PBS Chief Executive will be Dr. Armin Sageder, who led BGT to a market-leading position in retail sports betting technology after founding the supplier in 2005.

Following the appointment of Dr Sageder last November Playtech governance detailed that the company would form a new betting division in order to unify all existing and acquired assets, Playtech BGT Sports  is formed of BGT (lead provisions), Geneity, Mobenga Mobile, Unilogic plus its in-house trading team

John Pettit will act as the Managing Director for the UK, Ireland, Asia and Australia, covering retail and digital operations in these territories. Dietmar Wiesinger will operate in a similar managing director role for the rest of the world.

Since the acquisition was completed last July, PBS has continued to thrive, with new agreements signed with OPAP and Sportium, as well as contract extensions with a number of established clients.

Dr Armin Sageder, CEO of Playtech BGT Sports, commented on the update: “Combining our expertise in retail betting operations with the extensive know-how at Playtech provides the ultimate platform to create innovative, premium products for our clients and their customers.

“John and Dietmar offer a wealth of experience in the industry and we are tapping into this as we continue to invest in our products and remain at the forefront of digitising retail betting.”
