National Lottery operator Camelot assess options following the resignation of CEO Andy Duncan

UK National Lottery operator Camelot Group has informed the media that Chief Executive Andy Duncan has resigned as leader of the company.

The resignation of Duncan as Group CEO, will see Nigel Railton leader of Camelot’s international business division ‘Camelot Global’ act as interim Chief Executive whilst the board of governance considers its best options for corporate leadership. Camelot informed that Duncan would work with Nigel and governance to ensure a ‘smooth transition’ period.

Updating stakeholders, Camelot informed that Duncan would work with Nigel and governance to ensure a ‘smooth transition’ period.

Duncan will continue to represent the company as an ambassador of Camelot UK on the European Lotteries Association, World Lottery Association and the EuroMillions Lottery Operators Board until the summer.

Andy Duncan commented on his departure “It has been a great privilege to have led Camelot and the National Lottery through an exciting period. I’m proud that total returns to good causes during the last six years exceeded £10bn, an increase of 25% or nearly £2bn compared with the previous six years. This money is distributed to society in order to change the lives of people across the country.

“I believe that the purpose at the heart of the National Lottery has never been stronger, changing lives by creating a millionaire nearly every day whilst returning more than £30m to good causes every week,” he added.

Camelot Chairman Jo Taylor thanked Duncan for his six years’ service with the lottery operator: “Andy has achieved a tremendous amount on behalf of National Lottery players, winners and the good causes the National Lottery supports. We thank him for his contribution to Camelot and the National Lottery and wish him well for the future.”
