Sky Betting and Gaming Academy nears 5,000 applications

Since launching its Graduate Academy last year, Sky Betting and Gaming has considered 4,788 applications from candidates across key digital hubs in the UK, including Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham and Nottingham.

Following three weeks of assessment, 32 offers have been made for the 2017 Yorkshire-based scheme, for roles spanning finance, technology, operations and commercial. This year has also seen a 4% rise in the number of female applicants to successfully reach this stage.

By employing another 32, Sky Betting and Gaming has taken its number of Graduate Academy employees to 75, each of whom has benefited from 14-weeks of fast-track training, a rotation of placements within the company, business skills, mentoring and a buddy scheme, with the tech track offering software engineering, agile, big data, testing and coding in Ruby and JavaScript.

Rob Painter, Sky Betting and Gaming Brand and HR Director, said: “As ever, we’re excited for the next round of future talent to come and join us, and what’s really interesting is how the scheme is now drawing fresh interest not only from Yorkshire universities, but further afield.

“Our successful candidates represent 18 different universities this year and whilst we remain committed to developing opportunities for home-grown graduates with over half of our intake coming from local universities, helping to develop the reputation of our regional economy as a destination of choice for early careers is a real positive.”
