UK bookmaker Ladbrokes reports that there is an exalted level of anticipation amongst punters for the UEFA European Championship (Euro 2017) run of England women’s football team. Bookmakers have priced England Women as current third 7/1 favourite to win Euro 2017, behind joint 5/2 favourites France and Germany.

National success at youth level and extended media coverage has been proven to be the perfect combination for elevating betting interest in women’s football.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes told SBC: “Interest in the women’s game from a betting perspective is higher than it’s ever been, which is no doubt helped by the significantly increased level of media coverage. We’ll be offering more markets than ever before as the country gets behind the Lionesses”

At youth level, this summer has been glorious for English football; the under-17s were beaten finalists in the European Championships, the under-19s side won the European Championship and the under-20s won the World Cup.

Tonight, the reputable England women’s side take centre-stage when they take on Scotland in the UEFA Women’s European Championship 2017 (Group D Match) at FC Utrecht’s Stadion Galgenwaard.

Patriotic punters seemingly have a great deal of faith that they can build on what has already been a triumphant Summer for English football.

Apati further detailed “England’s success in other tournaments (notably the U20s World Cup glory) this summer has left punters feeling optimistic of the Lionesses’ chances in the Netherlands, with Mark Sampson’s side comfortably being the most popular team with punters to win the Euros.”
