IGT & Scientific Games enter North America games cross-licensing agreement

Industry technology providers’ IGT Group and Scientific Games have informed the market that they have signed a ‘landmark patent cross-licensing agreement’.

Updating stakeholders, IGT and Scientific Games detail that moving forward each company will have access to each other’s slot portfolio for the North American market.

Fierce rivals within the land-based gambling systems and lottery terminals sectors, it appears that both gambling giants are willing to share game portfolios and development features.

‘Under the agreement, Scientific Games and IGT will be able to offer games using patented game features from each other’s portfolios, as well as those of other members of the IGT slot game features pool. Financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.’ Detailed an IGT Group market update.

IGT continue its strategy of securing cross-licensing agreements. The New York-listed gambling tech firm has IP partnerships with Paradise Entertainment, Konami Gaming and Aruze Gaming.

The IGT and Scientific Games agreement will see the creation of the industry’s largest slot game feature patent portfolio. At present, neither IGT or Scientific Games governance has commented on the agreement.
