Mor Weizer: Playtech –  ‘Local Heroes’ can overcome 2018’s challenge

Opening the ‘Playtech Academy’ at ICE 2018, Group Chief Executive Mor Weizer details that company leadership is unfazed by the radically changing regulatory landscape impacting all industry stakeholders.

Leading Playtech Plc since 2007, Weizer states that his firm’s services and operations have helped tier1 clients overcome all previous regulatory challenges.

For industry technology providers, 2018 appears a daunting prospect as betting operators face tougher regulations and advertising restrictions in lucrative markets such as the UK and Australia.

Not so for Playtech, which Weizer states have been driven by the belief that ‘regulation equals maturity, which in turn produces stable conditions’.

Meeting 2018 drastic regulatory changes, Weizer and Playtech executives firmly believe ‘that it is time to support the industry’s local heroes’, those legacy tier1 betting operators with established retail and digital verticals.

Whilst times appear tough, Weizer points to Playtech’s successful record at creating effective omni-channel systems, helping clients such as William Hill, Ladbrokes Coral and SNAI Italia bridge retail and digital consumer dynamics.

From a technology and operations perspective, Weizer states that now is the time for operators and wider stakeholders to optimise user data information and gathering, pointing to omni-channel strategies that have worked within the entertainment and retail sectors.

Ending his ICE 2018 presentation, Weizer tells attending press delegates that he is most pleased at his firm’s ability to demonstrate ‘dynamic concepts every year’, which are then developed into ‘effective client products’… Weizer is right to question whether other technology leaders at ICE 2018 can make the same claim.
