Top Pedigree… BetBright sets high bar for 2018

Independent online bookmaker BetBright has become a ‘darling of the Irish tech scene’, as it targets generating net-revenues of £25 million this 2018.

Led by CEO and Co-founder Marcus Brennan with the support of former City ‘golden boy’ Rich Ricci as investor and Chairman, Dublin-based BetBright seeks to become the betting industry’s most disruptive player.

Founded in 2013, a young BetBright has moved to establish itself as a top pedigree in betting technology and systems, competing against legacy operators in the UK and Ireland.

BetBright’s enterprise founding team of the Brennan brothers (Marcus & Richard) and Tadhg O’Toole have built the company from the ground-up focusing on the in-house development of its proprietary ‘mobile-first’ betting platform.

This weekend Brennan revealed to The Sunday Times that BetBright had taken approximately €350 million in wagers, combined with net-revenues of €14 million, a figure the CEO and its ambitious governance seeks to double this year.

Sarne Lightman

Aiming high, Brennan has recruited new Managing Director Sarne Lightman, a former executive of PokerStars to lead corporate marketing and further strengthen the bookmaker’s commercial muscle.

Furthermore, a ‘tech-first’ BetBright will be expanding its headcount to 150 staff as its tackles a critical World Cup year.

Joining the bookmaker’s leadership in H2 2017, Lightman has been tasked with delivering BetBright’s first TV marketing campaign which will be launched in Spring 2018.

As the global betting sector prepares for further consolidation, industry analysts should keep an eye on fresh-faced BetBright, which may mature into the new giant of online betting…
