Smarkets forms ‘stats-led’ content partnership with Squawka

Online betting exchange Smarkets has moved to strengthen its football content coverage, announcing a strategic partnership with new Catena Media property Squawka (Squawka.com).

Beginning this March, Smarkets and Squawka teams will combine resources to develop ‘stats-led content’ for football audiences on both portals.

The in-depth content and match analysis will be pushed via multiple distribution channels including Twitter, Facebook, and the Squawka weekly newsletter.

Confirming the partnership, Smarkets stated that it wanted to expand and inform new audiences of football trading dynamics and live match insights generated through its online betting exchange.

Dan Levy, Smarkets Head of Partnerships and Content, said: “This is the first content partnership we’ve ever undertaken at Smarkets and we’re delighted to have Squawka on board with us, especially as we approach the business end of the European season and with the World Cup this summer.”

“There is clear overlap between our brands and customer base, so this feels like a natural fit. We’re really excited to bring Squawka’s expertise and insight into our social content and we’re looking forward to enhancing their content with our informed live-market data.”

Last December, Stockholm-listed Catena Media Plc acquired Squawka outright, in a move to expand its industry network’s football dynamics and social media reach.
