Scientific Games Corporation has announced it has received two 2018 Communitas Awards, which honour excellence in corporate social responsibility for ethical and environmental sustainability and for community service.
The industry technology provider received its first award for “Excellence in Ethical and Environmental Responsibility,” in the “Green Initiatives” category.
Being commended for environmentally friendly practices to print and manufacture, it also recognises a proactive approach to mitigate “its impact on the environment, reducing air and water pollution, waste to landfill and energy use in its 207 global facilities and offices across 25 countries.”
Recognition of the firms humanitarian efforts to Puerto Rico was also recognised in the “Making of Difference” category, with aid sent to the US island territory after being devastated by back to back hurricanes.
Over 32 tons of water, food and other supplies were airlifted and shipped to the island, with almost $90,000 also raised to aid the recovery.
