Golden Race granted associate membership to NASPL

Golden Race has been granted associate membership to the North American Association of State & Provincial Lotteries (NASPL), a regional organisation spanning Canada and the US that facilitates better communication between lottery operators, as well as between lottery operators and gaming vendors.

The virtual sports platform provider has joined 52 lottery operators/suppliers in Canada and the US, including IGT, Intralot, Scientific Games (SG) and Inspired. The association is supported by several respected organisations such as the National Council of Problem Gambling (NCPG).

Gaining associate membership of NASPL – first established in 1971, means that Golden Race, having only recently obtained a supplier licence for the UK market, will now have its voice heard in the lucrative lottery industry across the pond.

According to NASPL, gross sales for US lotteries in 2017 totalled $80,844,113,849, while these lotteries transferred $22,309,173,226 to state and local governments, helping to fund essential services such as education, infrastructure and elderly assistance.

Looking at the same figures, lottery sales in Canada amounted to $10,115,744,805, with provincial and local governments receiving $3,282,803,896, although these numbers were produced from significantly fewer retailers – 20,882 compared with 96,223 in the US.

George Vonapartis, Golden Race Regional Director for North America, said: “Our application to become NASPL Associate Members, demonstrates our ongoing commitment to work together with the local industry to bring the best gaming experience to the end customer.

“The acceptance of our application, following stringent eligibility requirements, is a recognition of our efforts to responsibly grow our company within regulatory gambling frameworks.”
