Videoslots and SafeEnt take Swedish licence count to 18
The licence count in Sweden has reached 18 after two more companies – Videoslots Ltd and SafeEnt Ltd, a subsidiary of Global Gaming, secured approval to service the market from 1 January 2019.
On 3 and 4 December, Videoslots was granted a licence for online games, while SafeEnt secured a five-year licence for betting and online gaming through Ninja Casino and SpelLandet.
It comes as welcome respite for Videoslots, who hit the news last week for agreeing to a £1 million regulatory settlement with the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) over player safeguard failures.
Meanwhile, Global Gaming said it will “continue to evaluate opportunities in other jurisdictions” after adding the Swedish licence to those recently granted by the Malta Gaming Authority and the Estonian Tax and Customs Board.
The firm’s Head of Compliance Linda Kärrholt added: “We were one of the first operators to submit a licence application on August 1st 2018, the first available day, and are proud to announce that all the hard work put in by our team has paid off.”
Global Gaming CEO Joacim Möller commented: “We are thankful for this seal of approval. It not only signals the approval of our business model, but also gives us an opportunity to continue focusing on our largest market.”
Last week, Lotteriinspektionen announced its first 16 approved operators which, as expected, included Betsson, LeoVegas and Kindred Group, who secured approval to operate unibet.se, mariacasino.se, storspelare.se, bingo.se and igame.se.
