More bets wagered on Six Nations as England tipped for success

UK punters’ interest in the Six Nations has continued to grow, with 26 per cent more bets being placed in comparison to this time last year.

Ahead of this weekend, Wales vs England has proven to be the most popular betting event of the tournament so far, with five times more bets being placed on this game in comparison to the next most backed, France vs Scotland.

Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “Saturday’s match is the kind that makes the Six Nations so special. Both sides are unbeaten in this tournament but England is looking the most convincing.

“It’s a mouthwatering encounter on paper and has certainly caught the eye of punters ahead of the weekend.”

England are currently odds-on favourites with bookmakers to win at this weekend’s head-to-head in Cardiff, however punters are hedging their bets, with the match currently looking even between the two teams.

Wales have attracted 43.5 per cent of the bets placed by punters, while England has been backed by 47 per cent of the punters. The remaining 9.5 per cent have backed what may be an unlikely draw.

Elek added: “England are as short as 4/6 to win the Grand Slam, having already swept aside France and Ireland. Even that price will look big should they do the same on Saturday.”
