Barry Cottle – SGC significantly advances its Euro profile with IDDAA Turkey win
As anticipated Nasdaq gambling technology group Scientific Games Corporation (SGC) has announced a major supplier win, confirming that it will takeover the management of the Turkish IDDAA sports betting concession, in partnership with Turkish media conglomerate Demirören Holdings.
Servicing 5,300 Turkish retail betting points, SGC and Demirören have established new joint-venture ‘Şans Girişim’, the company which will operate the ten-year exclusive IDDAA contract awarded by Turkey’s Sportoto Organisation.
SGC and Demirören takeover the lucrative contract from incumbents Intralot and Turkcell’s joint venture ‘INTELTEK’, which has operated the IDDAA concession since 2004.
The partnership will see SGC act as lead technology supplier to Şans Girişim, providing IDDAA with new central systems provisions, operating software, in-shop terminals, risk management and retail maintenance.
Updating the market, Barry Cottle, Chief Executive & President of Scientific Games, stated that the US technology group had significantly expanded its European footprint securing – ‘Europe’s largest state-sponsored sports betting market and among the top three in the world in sales’.
“On behalf of our joint venture with Sans Digital, we are thrilled to win this significant opportunity to operate the only legal sports betting concession in Turkey.” Cottle detailed in a statement to investors.
