Are we at peak betting? Find out at Betting on Football

Has the industry reached peak betting when it comes to technological innovations? That’s the question that will be asked on the first panel session of the ‘Leadership & Vision’ track (Wednesday 20 March) at next week’s Betting on Football conference.

The subject matter – Peak betting – are economies of scale causing stagnation? – forms much needed executive debate and assessment on whether sector incumbents have become too formulated in their approach to growth and meeting scale demands.

As European betting markets mature, do incumbents need to rethink and readdress their enterprise models, or are operators happy to serve a status quo where market price is the dominant consumer factor leading choice and engagement?

Furthermore, can bookmakers display any autonomy and distinction when formulating market pricing strategy and business modelling in 2019, or has betting become a regimented industry?

Peak Betting’s expert insight and assessment will be led by Marco Blume, Director of Trading at low-margin bookmaker Pinnacle – an industry figurehead at pricing markets and establishing dynamic betting enterprise models.

Focusing on the industry’s current landscape with regards to market tactics and differentiation will be Guy Harding, Head of Commercial at Oddschecker, the world’s leading betting/market aggregation portal.

Offering a technology stakeholders perspective on market growth and stagnation challenges will be Keith O’Loughlin, SVP – Sportsbook and Platforms at SG Digital, who will highlight the importance of technical knowhow to meeting scale demands effectively.

The panel is closed by Jari Vähänen, SVP International Business Development at Finnish state-owned operator Veikkaus Oy. He will explain the comprehensive Peak Betting challenges facing all components of betting’s operational value chain, from leadership to marketing, retention and player engagement.

Andrew McCarron, Managing Director of SBC, commented: “Peak Betting will offer a comprehensive breakdown of incumbent market strategies and whether current betting trends across the board are sustainable.”

Betting on Football, held from 19-22 March, is the only trade conference that brings together decision makers from international operators to address the recent issues and opportunities in the sports betting industry.
