SKS365 appoints ‘political figurehead’ Maurizio Bernardo as compliance advisor
Seeking to bolster its regulatory and compliance capacities, Italian betting operator SKS365 Group has confirmed the recruitment of Maurizio Bernardo as a corporate strategic advisor.
A renowned figurehead in Italian politics, Bernardo is the former President of the ‘Italian Chamber of Deputies’ Finance Committee’, and further regarded as an expert of Italian gambling.
Updating stakeholders, SKS365 governance confirms that Bernardo will advise company leadership on key strategy related to strengthening group compliance programs, and establishing/coordinating wider stakeholder relationships and management procedures.
Branding Bernardo as an ‘important asset for the group’ Bepi Pezzulli, SKS365’s General Legal Counsel, states “Maurizo’s figure will be pivotal in adding strategic competence to the company who is currently engaged in massive investments on compliance programs and governance systems. The entry of Maurizio certainly increases our ability to produce high level corporate social responsibility initiatives”.
Bernardo’s appointment as an SKS365 advisor comes as the Italian legacy betting group installs its new executive leadership team during H1 2019 trading.
Furthermore, Bernardo will advise SKS365 in ‘specific activities related to social responsibilities’, as Italian betting stakeholders adjust to new regulatory enforcements, sanctioned by the Lega-5Star coalition government.
Backing the appointment of Bernardo, SKS365 Country Manager, Francesco Gaziano detailed “Maurizio strengthens our commitment to Italy, one where sports betting is part of the culture and the collective imagery. Giving central importance to the Italian market also means creating high employment levels, as well as ensuring relevant tax revenues for the Country’s economy”
