IGT appoints emerging markets expert Beatrice Bassey as a corporate advisor

New York-listed gambling technology and lottery systems supplier IGT Plc has moved to strengthen its corporate governance and general counsel, confirming the appointment of Beatrice H. Bassey as an independent advisor.

The strategic appointment of Bassey sees the executive counsel IGT governance on group legal oversight, and will further support the firm’s executive leadership team on ongoing compliance directives related to new markets.

A leading legal expert and enterprise strategist for emerging markets, Bassey is the current General Counsel and Compliance Officer of LSE listed African-focused private equity firm Atlas Mara.

Bassey further serves on the board of the Union Bank of Nigeria Plc and Botswana  Banking Corporation and Banque Populaire du Rwanda.

“Beatrice’s extensive experience in the highly dynamic and regulated banking sector, in addition to her extensive international exposure, are valuable perspectives to add to IGT’s board,” said Lorenzo Pellicioli, IGT Chairman.

In its update, IGT governance confirmed that board member Paget Alves had chosen not to stand for re-election, ending his 10-year tenure on IGT’s Audit and Compensation Committees.

This week, IGT confirmed the appointment of Max Chiara as inbound Group CFO, ending its four-month executive search to replace Alberto Fornaro, who departed the company at the end of last year.
