IGT secures major FanDuel retail sportsbook agreement

International Game Technology (IGT) has secured its biggest US wagering partnership to date, becoming the lead sports betting and igaming platform provider for FanDuel Group’s retail sportsbook properties until September 2024.

The deal sees IGT expand its existing platform arrangement with FanDuel, which to date has covered nine US regulated states since 2018’s repeal of PASPA laws, including FanDuel’s flagship Meadowlands sportsbook property in New Jersey.

IGT will now move to upgrade FanDuel sportsbook operations for the states of New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, and Mississippi.

Enrico Drago, IGT PlayDigital Senior Vice President, said: “IGT’s multi-faceted, multi-year PlaySports platform technology and igaming content agreement with FanDuel Group pairs the leading content and B2B sports betting provider with one of America’s most respected sports betting operators to propel an already winning partnership to new levels and create an abundance of opportunity for both parties.

“IGT and FanDuel Group are positioned for continued success in the US and we are committed to fueling FanDuel Sportsbooks’ sustained growth through our proven, market-ready platform, player-preferred game content and self-service betting technologies.”

As part of the agreement, FanDuel Group has also agreed to roll out IGT PlayDigital’s PlayCasino games in states where its online casinos operate. It will expand the distribution of IGT PlayDigital’s PlayCasino games that include slots, blackjack, roulette and more.

Less than a month following the repeal of PASPA in May 2018, Paddy Power Betfair (legacy Flutter Entertainment Plc) moved to form its US market wagering division acquiring fantasy sports operator FanDuel for $650 million.

Securing a series of high coverage partnerships with Boyd Gaming, The Ringer and Sportsgrid, FanDuel seeks to be the leading mass market brand for US wagering.

Matt King, FanDuel Group CEO, commented: “IGT’s PlaySports platform has been integral to FanDuel Sportsbook’s expansion in the US, as we currently leverage it to power America’s #1 Sportsbook.

“IGT is the strategic partner that we will lean on to help us expand our retail footprint across the US. IGT’s PlaySports platform enables us to create an intuitive, technologically driven customer experience at our world-class retail sportsbooks for our customers, while its PlayCasino content enables FanDuel to deliver premium mobile casino entertainment in new and existing markets.”
