GiG leads KAK Skopje sportsbook ambitions

Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has secured an extension to its existing tech partnership with North Macedonia casino group K.A.K. DOO Skopje (KAK).

Recognised as North Macedonia’s biggest casino operator, KAK appointed GiG in September to lead the digital transformation of its flagship ‘LeGrand Casino’.

KAK has also recently secured a licence extension allowing it to enter Macedonia’s sports betting marketplace, where it will service an initial 25 land-based estates as well as online betting services.

Market requirements have, therefore, led to KAK expanding GiG’s contract to cover delivery of an end-to-end omnichannel sportsbook solution for online and retail.

“Our recent decision to expand into both the retail and online sportsbook market was a natural step for us, building on our successful land-based casino activities and we see it as a very exciting proposition,” said KAK Chief Executive Ognjan Cigovski.

“We can now offer our customers a full suite of products across multiple locations as well as online. We are excited to partner with GiG on this venture who’s product and service offering were a great fit for what we want to achieve in the local Sportsbook space.”

Updating investors, GiG detailed that it had begun its deployment of KAK system provisions, for whom it anticipates launching a first sportsbook offering for by Q2 2021 – with the sportsbook extension ‘expected to make a positive contribution to GiG’s revenues from H2 2021 onwards’.

Outlining services, GIG stated that KAK would secure the most comprehensive sportsbook product for Macedonia, powered by Betgenius live data feeds and risk management services – delivering official betting content from over 300 sports events including the English Premier League, Serie A and EuroLeague basketball.

Richard Brown, Chief Executive Officer of GiG, said: “I am very pleased to expand our partnership with K.A.K, they have secured a local sports betting license and have exciting growth plans which are highly complementary to their existing premier retail casino presence in the country.

“By adding our online and OTC sportsbook technology offering to the online casino also powered by GiG, K.A.K’s end users will have a seamless end-to-end experience. We are very much looking forward to working with them to deliver a great product to the local market.”
