IMGL widens global focus with gaming law magazine launch

In recognition of its global focus and growing membership base, the International Masters of Gaming Law (IMGL) has launched a new magazine covering gambling law.

Replacing the firm’s previous jurisdiction-based publication, the new IMGL Magazine will be released on a quarterly basis as a digital publication available to members, in addition to non members involved in partnerships with SBC Gaming, the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS) and Clarion Gaming.

Consisting of articles from gambling law experts from five continents, the first edition of the new publication will feature an exploration of India’s fantasy sports market, an examination of the development of African regulatory frameworks and a on-the-scene report on the casino inquiry taking place in New South Wales, Australia.

Additional topics of discussion will include three North American features, investigation regulation of Loot Boxes by Canadian authorities and industry developments in the states of New York and Hawaii.

Regarding Europe, the magazine will update readers on the UK Gambling Commission’s’s (UKGC) review of the 2005 Gambling Act and include an opinion piece from the European Gambing and Betting Association (EBGA) on post-Brexit data flows.

“The IMGL Magazine sits alongside IMGL Masterclasses, Regional Conferences, Semi- Annual Conferences, including virtual conferences to offer the broadest array of educational opportunities in the gaming sector,” said Marc Ellinger, President of IMGL.

“The IMGL has and will continue to address the most timely (and sometimes the most challenging) issues in the global gaming industry.”

The second edition of the magazine will be published in the summer, with ‘likely’ insights on the early operations of France’s regulatory body the Authorité Nationale des Jeux ANJ), an examination on the oversight of crypto-currency transactions in Malta and updates on the passage of Canada’s new single-event sports betting legislation.

Simon Planzer, Editor in Chief, added: “This first edition sets the standard for what will be a truly worldwide publication with global authorship and readership interested in gaming law.

“Gaming law issues, which arise in one jurisdiction, are often reminiscent of the discussions in another. In the IMGL Magazine, you will find high quality scholarly articles with equally high practical relevance from the four corners of the gaming world.”
