Legend Tony Hawk Teams Up With The Sandbox For Metaverse Skatepark

A brand new virtual skatepark for the metaverse is born out of a three-way partnership between professional skater Tony Hawk, The Sandbox, and Autograph.

Tony Hawk Reveals “Biggest Skatepark Ever”

Amidst ongoing uncertainties in the crypto markets, the metaverse has not lost out on its appeal.  Blockchain gaming firm and major player in the world of virtual lands, The Sandbox, has in its latest project teamed up with professional skating legend, Tony Hawk, to build the metaverse’s “biggest virtual skatepark ever.”

It was Hawk himself who revealed the partnership to his 4.5 million followers on Twitter, where he shared a video clip detailing the features of the “virtual skatepark,” dubbed Tony Hawk LAND and is made up of 36 plots of land. Hawk said:

“I have been a fan of new technology all of my life – from the first videogames and home computers with CGI capabilities – so I am fascinated by the metaverse and excited to bring our culture into the virtual landscape of The Sandbox.”

Trip Down Memory Lane

The other partner in the project, NFT marketplace Autograph will design NFTs and avatars based on the pro-skater legend. Which will feature Hawk’s iconic skateboards and other gear bringing fans back to memorable moments in his career, including his skateboards, clothing, etc., from memorable moments in his career.

Dillon Rosenblatt, Co-founder and CEO of Autograph, commented about the partnership with The Sandbox and Tony Hawk:

Design Your Own Ramp in the Open Metaverse

Furthermore, the press release said that The Sandbox will make sure that the NFTs will be interoperable in its open metaverse. Players will also be able to design their own ramps and skating challenges.
