In its latest North American movement, Spotlight Sports Group (SSG) has put pen to paper on a deal with Sportskeeda, a US sports content platform.

The agreement with the Absolute Sports PVT Limited brand centres on development of a sports betting solution, which London-based SSG will work to provide using its tools, software and affiliate knowledge.

Primary goals of the collaboration include enhancing audience engagement, accelerating repeat traffic and driving revenue through optimised content, conversion and affiliation, whilst continuing to provide Sportskeeda’s sports and esports content.

“We are proud to kick off this exciting partnership with Sportskeeda,” said Sam Houlding, Chief Commercial Officer, SSG. “Using Spotlight Sports Group’s sports betting expertise we shall be working closely with Sportskeeda across many areas as they build out this segment of their business.

“Our products and technology solutions will seamlessly optimise Sportskeeda’s robust content offering, which perfectly appeals to the type of content American sports bettors relentlessly seek.

“We are excited to partner with Sportskeeda who are forward thinking and ambitious in what they are building. We hope to play a key part in helping accelerate their growth and success by unlocking audience value, enabling their audience to have a highly enjoyable sports betting experience and make well-informed betting decisions.”

SSG has identified the fan experience on Sportskeeda’s platform as ‘already hyper-personalised’, adding that it will integrate interactive tools to the site to ‘empower’ its existing user-base and provide localised sportsbook promotions.

Central to this objective will be the group’s affiliate services, setting a goal of ‘elevating Sportskeeda’s devoted fan base to become better bettors’.

Sportskeeda Director of Content Business, Mayank Kumar, added: “The partnership with Spotlight Sports Group enables us to engage with our millions of users in the United States in innovative ways by empowering them to consume and organise content differently, all while offering savvy and cognisant alternatives to immerse themselves in the multibillion-dollar betting industry.

“We are constantly improving our product and staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends. Aligning ourselves with Spotlight Sports Group allows us to do just that and we are confident our work in tandem offers our enthusiastic audience enhanced alternatives to increase our value.”

A UK-based betting services, publishing and marketing provider, Spotlight is perhaps best known to punters in its home market for producing the Racing Post, a staple of the UK’s high-street bookmaker shops and newsagents.

Like many companies, SSG is becoming increasingly drawn to the expanding market in the US, targeting partnerships in the region such as with Sportskeeda, with previous deals put together with the likes of Yardbarker.

On the other hand, in its BetTech Ecosystem 2022 published in June, Spotlight noted that Latin American markets are increasingly ‘getting front of mind’ despite the US and Canada being ‘top priority’ for many international firms.

The fact that should Brazil fully regulate sports betting it would have a larger legal customer base than the US ‘can’t and won’t be missed by any global operator’, as stated in SSG’s report.
