FDJ expands international B2B presence via Israeli and Swiss deals

Groupe FDJ has extended its international reach, striking agreements with the Israeli Sports Betting Board (ISBB) and Loterie Suisse Romande.

The French national lottery and betting operator’s B2B brand, FDJ Gaming Solutions, will provide its ELITE terminals to the ISBB, Israel’s sports wagering monopoly.

FDJ Gaming Solutions will deliver a total of 2,000 camera-based terminals to Israel’s sports betting retail network, along with its application and management suite.

Eli Ben Simon, ISBB CTO, remarked: ‘We were happy with ELITE as this terminal is camera-based and market proven. Camera-based terminals are the new market standard in the industry.

“They are more flexible as they can read all kinds of documents such as coupons, tickets, mobile screens, ID cards, etc. They also offer a transparent interaction with players and are more robust hence much cheaper to maintain.”

The partnership comes amid a period of expansion for FDJ, which is also seeking to enhance the international standing of its B2C betting division.

Last month, the group revealed that it had entered into negotiations to acquire ZEturf Group, operator of the ZEbet brand and active in France, Belgium, Spain and the Netherlands.

Meanwhile, the firm is also targeting a strengthening of its presence in the payments sector, having begun discussions to acquire POS provider Aleda in July and launching its Nirio service in September in collaboration with the Confederation of Tobacconists.

“ISBB already run their multi-channel betting business with our advanced betting platform technology for a decade and we are proud we were chosen to replace their POS equipment,” said Pascal Blyau, FDJ Gaming Solutions France CEO.

“For the terminal hardware, we work with Carrus Gaming, a strategic partner we’ve had for more than 20 years. With ISBB, our partnership will exceed 75,000 camera-based terminals deployed and more than 300,000 terminals globally.”

Back in Europe, the company’s deal with Switzerland’s Loterie Romande revolves around interactive games and ilottery content, delivered via FDJ’s Interactive Factory platform.

An open content-as-a-service platform, Interactive Factor is used by groups such as LEIA – a cross-border partnership between FDJ, Norsk Tipping, Svenska Spel, Danske Spil – to support lottery game logics.

Xavier Etienne, Executive Vice-President of FDJ, commented: ‘Our clients benefit from an attractive marketplace delivering competitive and high-quality portfolios of games and a unique ecosystem driving innovation.

“Interactive Factory is the perfect place for lotteries to pool stakes and boost progressive jackpots or develop multi-jurisdictional games. Each time a new lottery connects, the value we deliver to each of our clients increases dramatically.”
