The latest esports development in the UK has seen Ginx TV announce a notable change of direction in that it’ll rebrand to Ginx eSports TV as of June 23rd. GinxeSportsTV

This will be a 24 hour channel in partnership with television juggernauts Sky and ITV.

Channel 470 in Sky’s Sports section will be its home meaning it’ll gain exposure to 23 million households outside of the UK and Ireland. This makes it the world’s largest esports channel.

It’ll feature coverage of Turner’s ELEAGUE tournament, FaceIt’s eSports Championship Series, and the big one; Valve’s The International, in addition to plenty of others. Ginx recently moved into a new HQ in King’s Cross in London.

Ginx CEO Michiel Bakker said of the news: “Ginx eSports TV aims to add significant mainstream TV exposure to the fast growing eSports ecosystem. Complementing online streaming, with an entertainment-led approach, the launch on Sky and the rebrand across all our 37 million households allows us to help new audiences discover eSports and hopefully gives core fans a fresh perspective.

“I am also delighted about the prospect of Sky and ITV joining our shareholder roster, it goes without saying that the combined media footprint and expertise of both presents a significant opportunity for us to make a bigger impact, faster.”
