bwin says these are the top 10 esports players worldwide

Everybody likes a top ten. As far as esports goes being the best has become far more lucrative in recent years with big money tournaments popping up across games, and the likes of The International’s prize pool growing year on year.

Now the bookmaker bwin has put together what it believes to be the top ten players worldwide. To assess this it has utilised an in-depth algorithm which combines six separate criteria to determine the top players globally. The bookmaker also had help from the go to data site www.esportsearnings.com.

These criteria are Total Prize Money, Biggest Single Payday, Tournament Wins, Tournament Pay, Win % and Twitter Followers.

Drum roll please. According to the algorithm the top player is Clement ‘Puppey’ Ivanov, an Estonian Dota 2 player who is also one of the founders of Team Secret. With an impressive 226,000 Twitter followers and career earnings of $1.3m, as well as 36 recorded tournament wins he took first place ahead of US Dota 2 player Peter ‘PPD’ Dager.
