Geoff Freeman – AGA

Geoff Freeman the President & Chief Executive of the American Gaming Association (AGA) has issued a statement outlining the industry body’s intent on working with the Donald Trump administration.

Freeman details that a Trump Presidency will mark ‘the dawning of a new era in Congress’, as the AGA champions the gambling industry and its stakeholders.

With Trump taking over the Whitehouse in January, the AGA will aim to leverage its extensive network of supporters promoting favorable public and business policies for the US gambling sector to be revised by Congress.

As leader of the AGA, Freeman is optimistic that the Trump administration will be ‘significantly more restrained federal agencies than what our industry (and many others) experienced over the last eight years.’

Freeman and AGA stakeholders will now push to promote the commercial and civic benefits of the US gambling sector to the wider USA, stating that the association expects to gain some ‘important victories’ for its US-wide stakeholders in the coming years.

The AGA pinpointed the following ‘specific areas’ of focus for the AGA and its new relationship with the Trump administration;

  • Advocating for pro-business policies that promote growth and reinvestment;
  • Supporting economic policies that provide consumers with greater confidence and discretionary income;
  • Continuing to encourage a welcoming environment for foreign visitors, many of whom are interested in enjoying the casino gaming experience;
  • Cultivating relationships with and educating new members of Congress on gaming’s positive economic and community impacts; and
  • Advancing a pro-gaming agenda, including a repeal of the failed federal ban on sports betting outside Nevada.
