Ladbrokes – Females lead the pack for BBC’s Doctor Who

Ladbrokes has placed British/Australian actress Tilda Swinton as favourite to take on the popular role of BBC’s Doctor Who, replacing former incumbent Peter Capaldi.

Following strong speculation on the Oscar winner becoming the first female to play the Doctor in the shows 54-year history, bookmaker Ladbrokes has placed Swinton as outright 7/2 frontrunner leading British actor Kris Marshall (‘the guy from the BT ads’) second favourite at 4/1.

With Peter Capaldi’s last appearance as Doctor Who scheduled for Christmas 2017, BBC executives have pointed that the show will likely take a completely new direction. Social Media speculation has been rife that the next Doctor Who will be played a woman.

Further to Swinton leading its Doctor Who market, Ladbrokes has placed Bafta winner Olivia Colman as 5/1 third market favourite, followed by Maxine Peak 8/1 as fourth placed runner.

“Whovian punters are becoming increasingly convinced the next Doctor will be female,” said Ladbrokes Entertainment spokeswoman Jessica Bridge. “And fingers are currently pointing towards Swinton taking the lead BBC role”.
