G4 award IGT first ever ‘Responsible Gaming Certification’

International Game Technology (IGT) has become the first gaming supplier to be the recipient of Global Gambling Guidance Group’s (G4) Responsible Gaming Certification.

The New York listed gambling technology supplier received the accreditation for its land based casino and lottery segments.

Renato Ascoli, IGT CEO, North America Gaming and Interactive, commented:  “IGT partners with gaming operators around the world to provide innovative technology and services, and it’s our responsibility to create solutions that help our customer protect their players.

“IGT prides itself as an industry pioneer, and the G4 certification allows us to transparently demonstrate our leadership in the important topic.”

G4 is comprised of an international group of experts in the fields of responsible gaming and problem gambling, and lists its aim as minimising ‘the impact of problem gambling by promoting a worldwide accreditation programme for operators and suppliers.’

To obtain certification the group independently assess companies, ascertaining that they comply with their requirements of providing responsible gaming tools on gaming machines and systems.

These can be in many forms, including session limits, back office monitoring, responsible gaming screens such as budget setting suggestions, self assessment tests and treatment referrals and game screen reality checks including time clocks, wager amounts and reminders for how much time and money has been spent.

Pieter Remmers, a member of the G4 Board of Directors, added:  “IGT has successfully proven its commitment to responsible gaming by integrating effective features in its products that assist operators with minimizing harm and preventing problem gambling.

“We commend IGT for its leadership, and congratulate the company for being the first vendor to receive G4 accreditation for its land-based casino and lottery segments.”
