Betsafe continues strong Bellew partnership

Ahead of Tony Bellew’s eagerly anticipated rematch with his domestic rival David Haye, Betsafe has confirmed it will continue its strong partnership with the Evertonian boxer.

Bellew is a pivotal part of Betsafe’s expansive sponsorship portfolio, the boxer is joined by Conor McGregor, Manchester City, Sam Twiston-Davies, Jimi Manuwa and Cage Warriors in being sponsored by the online betting and gaming company.

It’s unsurprising Betsafe has continued to pursue boxing as a sponsorship opportunity, when the original partnership with Bellew was signed, Betsafe’s Brand Manager for the UK and Ireland Chris Watson, emphasised to SBC that: “Boxing fits the narrative of our concept as often the odds are stacked against fighters, taking on someone with a better record, taller, heavier, more powerful with more reach and with strong home advantage.

“Fighters can be behind on a judge’s scorecard before delivering the fight-ending knockout to overcome everything they are up against. These moments of drama, passion and excitement are what make Boxing such a good fit, and it complements our wider combat sports portfolio including Cage Warriors event sponsorship, broadcast sponsorship of UFC/Cage Warriors on BT Sport and several fighter ambassadors.”

Furthermore, customers can expect more unique marketing offers and approaches in the run up to the big rematch, ahead of the postponed fight Betsafe was scheduled to run a competition that offered a fan the opportunity to be part of Bellew’s ring-walk.

As part of the strong partnership, Betsafe followed up the news that Bellew’s fight against Haye was re-arranged for 5th May by delivering a unique face off and inviting the heavyweight rival he called out on social media to his boxing gym in Liverpool.
