The Australian Government proceeds with scrutinising the tennis betting operations. Consequently, the Australia gaming watchdog (Gaming authority of Victoria) has initiated a crackdown on tennis betting for potential match-fixing operations.

The Victorian Commission of Gambling and Liquor Regulation are exploring the recent operations of Tennis Australia following the controversial allegations of match-fixing and corruption.

According to the local press, Tennis Australia has fallen short of preventing illegal gaming transactions, whilst the sports entity has allegedly not complied with the current anti-corruption protocol. The findings of the investigation will determine whether Tennis Australia could persist as a sports controlling body.

The accusations against the sports institution were raised by the former Brumby Government Gaming Minister, Tony Robinson, the preceding year who stated in his complaint that:“As long as these betting opportunities remain intact it is inevitable that more players in minor tournaments will be approached to fix matches.”

The State of Victoria has recently reached an agreement with the ESSA Group (Sports Betting Integrity) to prevent match-fixing operations related to licensed iGaming platforms. The agreement was signed between the international organisation and the Australian state Police and is aimed at revealing suspicious betting activity.
