The American Gaming Association (AGA) has confirmed that current Chief Executive Geoff Freeman will not renew his tenure as leader of the US industry trade body.
Freeman who has led the AGA since 2013, is reported to be taking an executive role at America’s Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA).
The announcement marks the conclusion of a five-year tenure for Freeman, who took the reigns as only the second leader of the association from Frank Fahrenkopf Jr who founded the AGA in 1995.
AGA governance has begun its executive search for Freeman’s successor. The trade details that Freeman will remain as Chief Executive of the trade association until 1 August.
Updating stakeholders, AGA Executive Chairman Tim Wilmott commented on the departure of Freeman:
“It is a testament to our industry, as well as to Geoff himself, that GMA would look to gaming as a model for managing through dynamic change and complexity to achieve success in both policy and perceptions. Geoff has built a strong board and a strong team. He leaves us well positioned for future success.”
“The AGA accomplished many important successes during Geoff’s tenure, most notably the recent Supreme Court ruling … a decision that paves the way for legalised sports betting in the US.”
