DraftKings soft launches NJ mobile sportsbook product

Accelerating its US sports betting proposition, DraftKings has launched its New Jersey mobile app, bringing digital wagering to the Garden State.

The fantasy sports operator has soft-launched its ‘DraftKings Sportsbook’ app, syndicated through its New Jersey licensing agreement with Resorts Casino () and developed in partnership with betting technology group Kambi Plc.

The initial launch sees DraftKings operate an ‘invite only’ policy for its app, as the DFS operator tests its product against New Jersey DGE sports betting compliances.

New Jersey opened its sports betting market in June following the repeal of PASPA’s federal mandate. However, the state delayed registering digital betting provisions for a month, allowing legislators to refine licensing processes.

In its product release, DraftKings details that it wants to bring a premium sportsbook app to the New Jersey market, featuring functions that have dominated European markets such as, in-play betting, match streaming and cash-out markets.

DraftKings CEO and Co-Founder Jason Robins has stated via Twitter, that the sportsbook app represents one of DraftKings most important product launches.

The New Jersey launch of ‘DraftKings Sportsbook’ further represents  Stockholm-listed Kambi Plc’s official entry into the US sports betting market.  Kambi CEO Kristian Nylen commented on the partnership;

Kristian Nylen – Kambi

“Yesterday marked the start of an exciting new chapter for Kambi, as we created history with our partner DraftKings by processing the first online wager outside of Nevada following the repeal of PASPA. To be the first, and so far and only, sports betting supplier to receive a Transactional Waiver to operate online in New Jersey strengthens our position as the secure and quality choice for operators seeking a sportsbook partner.”

Customers can apply to test the sportsbook app, at DraftKings website, who have not detailed how many test-users it will limit. DraftKings expects a full New Jersey rollout of its sportsbook app in the coming weeks.
