Sportech confirms departure of Richard Cooper as Chair of Audit Committee

Richard Cooper – Sportech

London-listed racing and wagering systems provider Sportech Plc has confirmed the resignation of Richard Cooper as a Non-Executive Director, effective from 31 October.

Cooper, the former Group Director of Finance for FTSE gambling group GVC Holdings (2008-2016), had served Sportech Plc as a governance advisor since 2017.

As a corporate advisor, Cooper further held the position of Sportech’s Chairman of the Audit Committee.

Updating investors, Richard McGuire, Chairman of Sportech, commented on Cooper’s departure:

“On behalf of the Board and shareholders, I would like to thank Richard for his valued contributions and support to the Group and we wish him continued success as he explores new opportunities,” said McGuire.

McGuire and Sportech governance have confirmed that they have initiated a process to recruit Cooper’s successor and will provide an update in due course.

Cooper commented on his own Sportech tenure: “The role at Sportech has been more involved than was anticipated when I was invited to join the Board in May 2017, and I am unable to dedicate the time which is probably now required. I wish the business well as its prepares to benefit from the increasing North American focus since the repeal of PASPA and other gaming opportunities available to the Group.”
