UKGC reappoints Trevor Pearce to board of commissioners

Industry watchdog UK Gambling Commission has confirmed its reappointment of Trevor Pearce to the Board of Commissioners for a second term of four years, from July 1 2019 to June 30 2023.

Pearce has 40 years of prior experience in law enforcement with the Kent County Constabulary as well as  the National Crime Squad, Serious Organised Crime Agency, and National Crime Agency. He spent the vast majority of his career in specialist investigation and intelligence roles.

He brings significant experience of running successful, complex organisations as well as developing strategies to tackle international serious and organised crime. His expertise primarily lies in investigation and intelligence practices pertaining to anti-money laundering.

The moves comes after the Gambling Commission announced its plans to open consultation on the development of safer gambling protocols, structures, best practices and strategies which will be open to stakeholders until March 2019.

The consultation will emphasise the development of vital research pertaining to prevention and treatments, alongside “associated arrangements” that are needed to deliver the new strategy.

His reappointment has been made in compliance with the Cabinet Office’s Governance Code on Public Appointments. The appointments process is regulated by the Commissioner for Public Appointments.
