Sky Bet promotes ‘trusted hand’ Ben Wright to lead safer gambling agenda
The new executive team of Sky Betting & Gaming (Sky Bet) has moved to create a new in-house role focusing on developing safer gambling directives, procedures, schemes and communications.
Sky Bet, the new online sportsbook property of Toronto TSX-listed The Stars Group Inc, has developed the senior management role of ‘Head of Safer Gambling’, which will be fronted by Ben Wright.
A long term company stalwart, Wright is promoted to the new management position, which will see him work with leadership and a number of industry’s wider stakeholders, as Sky Bet bolsters its safer gambling and sustainability directives this 2019.
Sky Betting & Gaming Executive Chairman Richard Flint, personally approved the promotion of Wright, highlighting his nuanced knowledge of betting intricacies, engagements, and customer behaviours, following an eleven-year tenure as a Sky Bet trading director.
Richard Flint tweeted, on the appointment of Wright – “Delighted with this appointment. Ben knows the gambling business and most of all has a passion for this area. His focus is making things genuinely better and safer, not positioning or spin. I know Ben is keen to learn from those with real experience & different perspective”.
Securing UK regulatory approval to acquire Sky Bet last October 2018, new owners The Stars Group, detailed within the firm’s combined prospectus that its enlarged enterprise would seek to deliver market-leading online gambling products, within the safest environments possible.
Entering 2019, Sky Bet undertakes a change in corporate leadership as former Financial Officer Ian Proctor takes over the Chief Executive role from Richard Flint.
Proctor is supported by the promotion of Conor Grant as Sky Bet’s new Chief Operations Officer (COO), an appointment confirmed on October 2018, following the approval of the Stars Group $4.7 million takeover bid.
