STS gets green light to expand into UK
Building on its European and global expansion strategies STS, Poland’s biggest betting operator, has been given the green light by the UK Gambling Commission to provide services across the UK, based on an ‘independent licence’.
The expansion into the UK will make STS the first Polish bookmaking business to secure a licence in the regulated UK gambling market, having already secured licences in Germany, Iceland, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Andorra, San Marino, Gibraltar, Slovakia, Malta and Latvia, as well as Poland.
Mateusz Juroszek, Chief Executive Officer of STS, commented: “We are not only the largest Polish bookmaking company but the first domestic company in this industry that operates outside the domestic market.
“Obtaining a licence in the United Kingdom is the result of a consistently implemented international expansion strategy. We are always looking at other prospective foreign markets.”
Earlier this year, STS secured a deal with software developer BetConstruct, which has agreed to supply both sports betting and gaming content.
BetConstruct will provide its sportsbook product – as well as those for esports, live and RNG casino, virtual sports and statistics – to aid STS’ expansion into the UK, Germany, Norway, Iceland, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Andorra, San Marino, Gibraltar, Malta and Latvia.
STS has over 47% share in the Polish bookmaking market, with 80% of turnover generated online, through applications dedicated to Android and iOS, a website and mobile version.
