UKGC suspends Addison Global licence

Following on from the decision made by the Gibraltar Gambling Licensing Authority (GLA) yesterday, the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) has suspended Addison Global’s operating licence.

The suspension comes as the UKGC suspected ‘that Addison Global Limited has breached a condition of the licence (section 120(1)(b) and is unsuitable to carry on the licensed activities (section 120(1)(d) of the Act).’

The regulator has since suspended the licence with immediate effect pending the conclusion of the review carried out by the GLA.

Under the terms of the suspension, Addison Global will be prohibited from offering gambling services via its moplay.co.uk website to customers across Britain. The operator will, however, be permitted to return any outstanding balances to customers.

In a statement on its website, the UKGC said: “In accordance with section 118(4)(c) of the Act the Licensee is authorised to settle any outstanding winning bets that it has accepted in reliance of the above operating licences and return any outstanding balances to customers.

“We have informed Addison Global Limited that we expect clear messaging to consumers regarding their accounts.”
