Paddy Power guarantees Hector’s Arsenal tree pledge

Following back-to-back Premier League defeats against Manchester City and Brighton FC, Paddy Power have responded to Arsenal leftback Hector Bellerin’s environmental pledge.

Prior to the Premier League recommencing on Wednesday 17 June, Bellerin promised his social media followers that he would personally fund for 3,000 trees to be planted by reforestation charity One Tree Planted – ‘for every Arsenal win’.

Bellerin has spoken candidly about environmental issues in the past and how climate change will disrupt societies, further challenging professional footballers to wear sustainable clothing.

Paddy Power has praised the Spanish international’s environmental stance, but underlines that ‘you can’t save the planet if you cant defend!’

Therefore, Paddy Power has stepped in to help the One Tree Planted charity, promising to cover Bellerin’s reforestation pledge.

For the remaining Premier League season, Paddy Power will plant 6,000 trees every time the Gunners fail to win.

Spokesman Paddy Power said: “Since the Premier League has returned, an area the size of a football pitch is destroyed twice a week by Arsenal’s defence.

“We decided to step in and help hectare Bellerin out – after all, his team can’t defend their goal, let alone planet.”
