Restructured GVC sidelines Oddschecker affiliate services

GVC Holdings has confirmed that its UK flagship properties Ladbrokes, Coral and BETDAQ will no longer utilise Oddschecker affiliate marketing services.

Issuing a short statement, GVC explained that the decision to call time on its Oddschecker partnership has been undertaken for ‘commercial reasons’ – adding that it has terminated all marketing inventory as of 9 July 2020.

GVC statement read: “We would like to wish Oddschecker the best of luck and thank them for the positive relationship we’ve enjoyed over the years we’ve worked together.

“Sadly, we couldn’t agree commercial terms to renew the relationship, so as of the 9th July our UK Digital Brands will no longer feature on the service.”

GVC’s decision to end its relationship with Oddschecker follows a period of internal restructuring under lockdown.

This week, it confirmed that it will revamp its customer service teams in preparation for inbound regulatory changes as UK tier-1 betting firms commit to new VIP management and player interaction standards.

Operating since 1999, Oddschecker is recognised as the leading player referral portal for UK sports betting.

A current asset of FTSE100 competitor Flutter Entertainment, Oddschecker has had a number of high profile owners during its 20-year history including BskyB, US private equity group CVC Capital and The Stars Group Inc.

This month, Oddschecker management stated that it would support an overhaul of UK marketing standards and requirements in relation to gambling affiliate practice.

Oddschecker is a founding member of the newly formed Responsible Affiliates in Gambling (RAiG), which supports the development of an ‘affiliate-centric licensing regime’ for UK advertising.

As yet, Oddschecker management have not replied to GVC’s actions.
