GambleAware seeks concrete findings on GB treatment survey
Commissioning its second survey on ‘GB Treatment and Support Demands’ undertaken by YouGov, GambleAware stated that a methodology review needs to be applied on gambling prevalence.
GambleAware’s second YouGov survey seeks to better identify the safer gambling barriers with regards to players take-up and demand for treatment support services, impeding vulnerable customers for seeking help.
The 2020 survey has been increased to 18,000 UK participants from 12,000 segment in 2019 – as GambleAware aims to secure better understanding of the geographical make-up of problem gambling and to boost its data composition for ethnic minority communities.
Once concluded, GambleAware will report its findings by key demographics such as age, gender, ethnicity and geography, to highlight any key differences and intricacies amongst certain groups.
Safeguarding its 2021 research methodology, GambleAware has commissioned independent research agency Yonda to undertake a ‘quota survey’, concurrently over the same period.
Further survey safeguards will see social research institute NatCen and data consultancy Kanter undertake a random probability review of the Survey’s findings.
“The results of the surveys will be compared and will contribute to a better understanding of how to most effectively estimate the shape and size of gambling harms across Great Britain, alongside a clearer view of the barriers and demand for treatment across the country,” GambleAware’s statement read.
GambleAware plans to publish the results of its YouGov survey by Spring 2021.
