Gerard Piqué takes on Strategic Advisor position at Sorare

Fantasy football operator Sorare has gained a new Strategic Advisor in FC Barcelona and Spanish national team defender Gerard Piqué.

Sorare is hopeful that Piqué’s contribution, in addition to the “significant investment” he has made in the company, will help expand its global presence and reach new fan bases across the world.

Furthermore Piqué and his new colleagues at Sorare will be working to incorporate more players and teams from the world’s top 20 leagues into the game.

There are currently 100 different teams licensed with Sorare, including European giants Bayern Munchen, Paris St Germain, Juventus and Real Madrid.

The firm will also receive assistance from American fund Cassius Family founder and former CocaCola marketer Emmanuel Seugé, who will assist with branding acumen in the global sports industry.

Piqué previously won the Premier League and UEFA Champions League with Manchester United before joining Barcelona’s eight time La Liga and three time Champions League winning team.

Outside of football he has taken an active interest in sports media and business, such as forming a partnership with the International Tennis Federation (ITF) to modernise the Davis Cup tournament, as well as purchasing Spanish Segunda Division B team FC Andorra.
