ANJ to modernise France’s self-exclusion scheme
l’Autorité Nationale des Jeux (ANJ) has taken over management of France’s self-exclusion scheme, continuing to fulfil its core duties as France’s new unified gambling regulator.
Previously managed by France’s Ministry of the Interior, ANJ immediately declared that it would move to revamp the self-exclusion service for modern consumers.
Taking over responsibilities, the ANJ has stated that France’s new service will be completely managed online, eliminating face-to-face registrations, human errors and delays in system updates.
Under the Ministry of the Interior, French players were required to register with their local police station in order to complete registration – a barrier that detracted vulnerable and at-risk players.
Chaired by Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin, France’s former state councillor on data and consumer protections, last June the ANJ was announced as France’s new gambling regulator, ordered to immediately undertake a full review of the nation’s gambling laws and support structures.
Last week the ANJ, published its first regulator agenda for 2021 in which the regulatory agency detailed its intent to reform France’s current gambling protections and protection of minors.
