KOA licensing window launch hit by a slight delay
Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), the Netherlands gambling regulator, has delayed the opening of the ‘Remote Gambling Act’ (KOA Act) licensing window, which was scheduled to launch this morning.
Updating incumbents, the KSA posted a message on its website stating that its digital portal for KOA applications had registered a flaw during final testing.
The KSA maintains that it will issue a 1 pm update to stakeholders related to the launch of its application process.
1 April has been scheduled as the new launch date of the KOA regime licensing window, in which KSA has formerly revealed that it anticipates receiving 40 operator applications.
Following a last-minute intervention by Dutch Legal Protections minister Sander Dekker, the window was initially delayed from its original start date of 1 January.
Further regulatory developments saw KSA publish its guidelines for the financial auditing requirements of applying operators for KOA licences.
Each applicant party must present a quality assurance document by an independent auditor providing the full disclosure of the operator’s audited accounts to KSA.
Auditors must guarantee to the regulator that applicant operators are in no state of financial difficulty and can therefore ensure KOA financial provisions regarding the protection of player funds, bank guarantees and additional Dutch financial requirements.
