Hot prospect and new Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback signs endorsement deal with FTX-powered Blockfolio

Hot prospect and first pick in this year’s NFL Draft, Trevor Lawrence has made his first big move of the season. Into investing that is. The new Jacksonville Jaguars’ Quarterback signed a multi-year deal with global cryptocurrency investment app Blockfolio. Blockfolio is powered by cryptocurrency exchange FTX.

Blockfolio believes the partnership with Lawrence will help educate anyone in crypto to become more familiar and comfortable. The youngster will support the app and promote how users can buy, sell and trade cryptocurrency without any fees.

Unique

The endorsement deal is unique. A large part of the signing bonus will be paid in cryptocurrency, deposited directly into the Lawrence’s Blockfolio wallet. Although the company did not disclose figure, the bonus will include a variety of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana.

While Lawrence had plenty of offers from the more traditional financial space, his personal interest in crypto was decisive in his choice for Blockfolio.

“We believe that Trevor is the future of football, and we think that crypto is the future of finance,” Sina Nader, Blockfolio Chief Operations Officer said. “Trevor represents a lot of the promise and potential of football at the highest level, and we think that crypto represents the same thing at the highest level of finance.”

“I’m really excited to be joining the Blockfolio team,” former Clemson collegiate athlete Lawrence said. “When it comes to my crypto portfolio, I wanted a long-term partner in the space that I could trust.”

Educate on crypto

The partnership is a strategic move for Blockfolio/FTX. While awareness of cryptocurrency is high, reports estimate that only 10% of U.S. citizens own cryptocurrencies.

FTX recently signed a 19 year deal involving the naming rights to the Miami Heat’s arena in late March. The FTX arena will be one of the places where Blockfolio will look to engage with fans in an effort to remove existing hesitancy to invest that many people still have.

“We have a long way to go before we get anywhere near any real traction with people having and using crypto in their wallets,” Nader said. “Crypto is here to stay. FTX Arena gives us a physical presence, and Trevor is someone people can have a personal and human connection with for us and to the crypto space. We’re really excited about the arena, Trevor and other things we’ll be doing to get ourselves a little more vocal and out there in the space.”

The Blockfolio-Lawrence partnership will also focus on charitable interests between the two outside of the commercial aspect of the partnership. This will gradually be developed over time.
