Employees of Domino’s pizza in the Netherlands can start saving up in Bitcoin

A franchisee of 16 Domino’s Pizza locations in the Netherlands announced on Saturday that its employees can be paid in Bitcoin.

Saturday marked the 11th anniversary of Bitcoin Pizza Day, the day of the first successfully documented commercial transaction of cryptocurrency for two Papa John’s pizzas.

According to Immensus Holding, its employees will have the option receive Bitcoin (BTC) for the part of their salary that is above the country’s minimum wage. Tips can also be received in the world’s top cryptocurrency. Payments will be handled by BTC Direct, a Dutch crypto firm with a fiat-to-crypto integration.

Youth hold the key

Immensus co-owner Jonathan Gurevich believes employers need to listen to its people and said:

“We are a modern company, and we work with a lot of young employees. We hear them talking about Bitcoin and we want to offer the opportunity to own cryptocurrency.”

Dutch law requires that minimum wage is paid to its employees in euros. While the monthly minimum wage depends on age and hours worked, especially workers aged 15-18 could expect to earn more working at the pizza chain than required by local law. Hence they will be able to save up some Bitcoin monthly.

Three years ago, BTC Direct was the first European company to allow its employees to be paid in Bitcoin. So far this has led to a 700% ROI for those having participated

According to BTC Direct, Domino’s employees will have a perfect option to save up on ‘sound money’:

“A monthly Bitcoin salary can be compared to dollar cost averaging into Bitcoin. So all the benefits are the same, you don’t have to time the market, and in the long run you cancel out short and mid term volatility. This actually benefits the employee, they save value automatically in an ever-increasing asset.”

The Dutch crypto firm added:

“You can start small with ten or twenty euros a month, like Domino’s employees. As soon as you own some bitcoin, you will delve deeper into the underlying value and the potential. An educational journey with new insights time and time again. “

Pomp’s Bitcoin Pizza

At the beginning of the week, Anthony ‘Pomp’ Pompliano, investor and founder of Morgan Creek Digital, announced he was launching Bitcoin Pizza in an effort to support small business and the Human Rights Foundation’s Bitcoin Development Fund.

Coinciding with Bitcoin Pizza Day, over 1,000 people came around for the festive launch of Pomp’s latest initiative.
